Privacy Policy — Tracemate
Last updated: 28 October 2026
Tracemate ("the app") helps you draw on paper by showing a drawing or photo over your camera view so you can trace it. This policy explains exactly what happens to your data. It is written to match what the software actually does.
No account, no email
Tracemate has no sign-up and no login. We never ask for your email address, phone number, or name.
When you first open the app it creates a random app identifier that is stored only on your device. It is not derived from your device, your phone number, or any advertising ID, and on its own it does not identify you. If you uninstall the app, the identifier is lost and a new one is created on reinstall. On Android it is not included in device backups; on iOS it may be included in your device's own iCloud or computer backup, like other app settings.
Camera
The app uses your camera to show the paper under your phone with the drawing on top. The live camera view is processed only on your device. It is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.
When you finish a drawing you can choose to take a photo of it. That photo is used on your device to make your before-and-after card, and both are kept in My drawings (see "Stored on your device"). They are not uploaded to us.
Your photos
If you choose to trace your own photo, the app opens your system's photo picker, so it can only see the one photo you pick; it does not ask for access to your photo library. The photo is turned into a line drawing on your device and is never uploaded to us. The app does not keep a copy of your library.
Sharing and saving
When you tap Share, the app hands your card image to the app you choose (for example a messaging app); what happens next is governed by that app. When you tap Save to gallery, the card is saved to your device's photos in a "Tracemate" album. We do not receive your cards or photos.
Stored on your device
Your saved templates, settings, whether you have seen the introduction, and whether Pro is active are stored only on your device.
Free daily photo. Without Pro you can trace one photo of your own per day. To know whether today's free photo is used, the app stores the time you last started drawing one, only on your device. It contains nothing else and is never sent to us. So that reinstalling does not reset it, on iOS this one value is kept in the device keychain (it stays after you delete the app; it is not synced to iCloud), and on Android it is the only app value included in your device's own Google backup.
My drawings. When you take a photo of a finished drawing, the app keeps that photo, its before-and-after card, which drawing it was, and the date in the app's own storage on your device, so you can see your drawings again in My drawings. They are never uploaded to us. You can delete any drawing there at any time; uninstalling the app deletes all of them. On Android they are not included in device backups; on iOS they may be included in your device's own iCloud or computer backup, like other app data.
Drawing catalog
When the app opens, it checks our catalog server for new drawings and downloads any it does not have yet, so new drawings arrive without an app update. This request carries no identifier and no information about you or your device; it only asks whether the list of drawings has changed. Like any internet connection, it reveals your IP address to the server so the answer can be sent back; our catalog server does not store it or keep request logs. The catalog runs on Cloudflare. Drawings that come with the app work without an internet connection.
Usage data
To understand how the app is used and improve it, the app sends usage events to our server: for example, the introduction completed, camera permission allowed or declined, a category or drawing opened, a drawing started, finished, or left (with which drawing or "own photo", camera or screen mode, how long it took, how many steps, and how often the drawing was unlocked or a step went back), a card shared or saved, and the Pro offer shown or closed, with the product and price if you start a purchase. Each event carries your random app identifier, a random session identifier, and technical context: app version, platform, operating system version, device model, language, and the country of your app store. Events never include your photos, camera images, name, email, contacts, location, or advertising identifier. If you are offline, events wait on your device and are sent later.
No ads, no tracking
Tracemate shows no ads and contains no advertising or analytics SDK from other companies. The app does not access your advertising identifier and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Purchases
Tracemate offers an optional Pro subscription (monthly, or yearly with a free trial) that unlocks unlimited photos of your own and big drawings. Purchases and subscriptions are processed by the App Store (Apple) or Google Play, depending on where you installed the app; you can cancel or manage your subscription in your store account. We never see or receive your payment card, billing address, or Apple ID / Google account details.
We use Adapty to manage subscription state: Adapty receives the store's purchase receipt, the product you bought, and your random app identifier (as a customer reference, so your subscription is recognized when you restore it), and tells the app whether Pro is active. Collection of your advertising identifier and IP address is switched off in Adapty's SDK.
Where your data is processed
Usage events are received by our server functions, which run on Supabase infrastructure in the United States (us-west-2). Our functions do not store your IP address; the hosting provider may keep it briefly in its operational logs. The drawing catalog is served by Cloudflare's global network; it sees your IP address only to answer the request and our catalog server does not store it. Subscription state is managed by Adapty.
Children
Tracemate is a general-audience app and is not specifically directed to children. We do not ask for or knowingly collect a name, email address, or other personal identifier from anyone. If you believe a child's data should be removed, contact us at the address below.
Your choices
- Camera and photos. You can turn off camera access in your device settings at any time; you can still copy drawings from the screen in screen mode. The app never needs access to your photo library.
- Delete your data. Write to us and we will delete the usage events linked to your app identifier. Because the identifier is random and stored only on your device, we cannot find your data by your name or email; tell us your device model and roughly when you installed the app, and we will help you identify it.
- Stop collection. Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on your device and stops all data collection.
Changes
If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
